(April 9, 2015) Lawrenceburg speedway was the place to be last night as some close and exciting wheel to wheel action took place for the Frank Kimmel Street Stock Nationals. The action got underway with a qualifying session where the top eight drivers would be locked into a dash for the feature while the others would go to a heat/B main style race for position. In the B main, the 12 lap race would go green to checkered and see some three wide racing throughout. Upfront Andrew Engels, Jason Whittal, and Justin Clark would put on a show. In the later stages in the race, the D40's would start to wear out for many drivers allowing others such as Keenen Golliet into the mix. However Jason Whittal was the best of the bunch and would take the win. Next it was time for the dash and once again this turned out to be a great race. James Rotruck would lead the pack to the green and lead the first lap until some technical issues forced him into the infield. This left the lead into the hands of Jim Goodson for the next three laps until the hard charging Justin Gilmore would make his way into the lead and take the checkers. Finally it was time to dial em up for the A main. This 60 lap feature came down to being patient and simply speed. Justin Gilmore didnt need to be patient from his pole position but he sure was fast. Gilmore was challenged high and low early on from Josh Smith but was to good to be passed. Later in the race, Blake Drohman put a charge on Gilmore as the lap cars held him up just a hare but Drohman ran out of laps. Gilmore would go green to checkered and never falter the lead at Lawrenceburg. But post race inspection showed a lack of a tire shot on his part which gave him a DQ. Therefore the winner of the Frank Kimmel Street Stock Nationals went to Blake Drohman. The hard charger on the night was a tie between Andrew Engels and Rodney Pierce.
